Ellie Express is an eight-week therapy program, rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Our highly skilled therapists meet with individuals for two 40-minute sessions each week. Let’s take a look at the details:
Often, Ellie Express clients are struggling with a new onset of daily stress, anxiety, or depression, even though they may never have experienced those feelings before. Sometimes, those emotions are triggered by a recent life stressor. Maybe you recently changed jobs or your kid just went off to college or you moved to a new city. Or you feel overwhelmed by pandemic stress or you lost your job or all the political news is stressing you out. Often, people who seek out mental health services for these concerns are diagnosed with an Adjustment Disorder.
These aren’t the only reasons why you might be interested in Ellie Express, though! If you’re feeling stressed and are motivated to feel more in control of your emotions, Ellie Express might be the perfect fit for you.
Many of our Ellie Express clients have been diagnosed with an Adjustment Disorder. Adjustment disorder is a mental health diagnosis that, in layman’s terms, happens when an individual starts feeling stress that gets in the way of their day-to-day activities within 3 months of a stressful life event (pandemic, anyone?). In other words, something sh!tty happens and it throws you all out of whack. Finding healthy coping skills can be hard to do, and that’s why we created Ellie Express!
Adjustment disorders can occur during a divorce or marital problems, relationship or interpersonal challenges, or changes in life situations (such as retirement, having a baby, or going away to school). Adjustment disorder can also be triggered by adverse situations, such as losing a job, the loss of a loved one, or having financial concerns.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on the interaction between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Specifically, CBT states that our thoughts influence our emotions and how we respond to situations. CBT helps people gain coping skills and improve their emotional regulation strategies. It’s also evidenced-based, which means that lots of research studies have been conducted to explore how effective it is as an intervention. Those studies have given CBT the stamp of approval, especially for treatment of depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders.
Ellie Express is rooted in CBT practices, but we’ve added our own unique blend of humor, authenticity, and compassion that Ellie Mental Health is known for. Come check us out and see if we’d be a good fit for you!
We use the same billing codes for Ellie Express that a traditional therapist would use. Most major health insurance providers cover these services, often with copays or after an individual meets their annual deductible. You’ll receive the most accurate information about your coverage by calling the number on the back of your insurance card. Ask your insurance provider if they cover the following services:
Diagnostic Assessment Session: 90791
Treatment Planning Session: 90837
16 Ellie Express Sessions (twice weekly): 90834
Ellie Express is like a self-help book amped up with your own personal guide. Traditional therapy is often a slower burn. Sometimes traditional therapy is brief and only lasts a handful of months; other times it’s long term and can last a handful of years.
Ellie Express is an intense program in that it requires twice weekly sessions for 8 weeks. Traditional therapy typically takes place once per week. Ellie Express sessions are 40 minutes long whereas traditional therapy sessions are usually 50 minutes long.
Ellie Express is a great fit for people who are ready to feel better, like, now, and who are motivated to work hard on improving their well-being!
Definitely! Ellie Express is a unique program, and may be different than the style of therapy you’ve plateaued with. Ellie Express is more structured than many therapy types and involves a lot of skill-building and guided practice with your therapist. Feel free to give us a call at 651-313-8080 or Request an Appointment to learn more!
Totally! We do recommend that you pause services with your regular therapist during your Ellie Express program, or decrease the frequency of sessions. Insurance providers sometimes won’t cover three or more mental health services per week (give your insurance provider a call to check your policy specifics).
Also, if you’re currently seeing your regular therapist weekly, it can be super tiring to have 3 sessions each week! But hey, maybe you’re super motivated and want to do it–more power to ya! Just know that you may incur additional out-of-pocket costs depending on your insurance coverage.
We’re glad you’re ready to explore if Ellie Express is the right fit for you! You can either Request an Appointment through our online referral form, or you can call us at 651-313-8080.
After you reach out, one of our intake coordinators will go through a screener questionnaire over the phone with you to triple check that Ellie Express is the right match for your needs. If it is, they’ll connect you with one of our Ellie Express therapists who will set up a time to meet with you (over telehealth during pandemic times) for a Diagnostic Assessment session. If Ellie Express is not the best match for your needs, our intake coordinator will help you get set up with traditional therapy if you are interested!
