Description

Attendees will learn the basics of psychopharmacology such that they can advise clients and families when they might be of benefit from psychotropic medication, support patients in being an advocate for appropriate use of medications, and better collaborate with medication management providers. Ellie is offering a CEU series to the greater mental health community! All trainings welcome up to 15 non-Ellie employees who would like to join us to learn more about various topics. Following each training you will be provided a certificate of completion via email. CEU approvals pending for the following regulatory boards: BMFT, BSW, BBHT, Psychology, and Nursing. Objectives
  1. Review basic psychopharmacology in mental health.
  2. Provide a foundation of knowledge around psychotropic medication such that attendees are better able to support clients in multidisciplinary care.
  3. Discuss situations when patients may benefit from medication or provider changes.

Instructor Bios

Dr. Justin Gerstner

Dr. Gerstner is the Medical Director at Ellie Family Services. At Ellie we have a team of 3 Psychiatrists and 8 Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners providing over 1000 psychiatric visits per month. Dr. Gerstner is board certified in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry receiving his Medical Degree, Residency, and Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He has presented on a variety of issues relating to mental health to community groups, clinics, hospital systems, and national conferences. He has clinical experience with Adults and Children in settings including outpatient, inpatient, residential, PHP, IOP, Forensic, and emergency rooms. He is a current member of the AMA, APA, and AACAP.
